What happened WestJet? You used to be the friendly airline. It took WestJet 2 days to decide whether her dog would be accepted to fly. So I missed the competition and had to forfeit entry fees and other show expenses. My dog was 5 pounds over the 100 pound “limit” and considered “too big” for cargo shipment. Similar sized dogs travelling to the competition were either not weighed, or granted some leeway. Inconsistently applied rules don’t make for happy customers. I couldn’t cancel my flight because the timeline had passed to do so online and we all know what the wait times are when you try to call! Yay more time out of my life I’ll never get back to deal with that. He is a show dog and this is his regular kennel. Dog has to be able stand, turn around and lay down which he does. Website indicates cargo accepts pets up to 160 pounds. So my 25 inch, 85 pound dog was not able to travel on WestJet, period. After sitting in the cargo office for two and a half hours they told me his shipment was rejected because he is too big for his kennel. I arrived at the Cargo office at 6:20 am, 3 1/2 hours before the flight departed to make sure he got checked in and I could get to the main terminal and through security for my flight. I booked Marshall’s cargo ticket for travel the following day and changed my flight as well. We were booked to fly from Calgary and when I went to check in, they weighed him and his kennel and denied board because he was slightly over the limit. Thanks to WestJet, Marshall and I are unable to fly to Vancouver island for the year end competition.
